To add to the confusion, American Character also made a Toni doll from 1958-1960. Toni was a hugely popular doll. Due to her popularity, several of the leading pattern manufacturing companies made doll clothing patterns to fit her. So, mothers and their daughters could make additional outfits for these darling dolls.
